The Right Answer

If I offer you one apple and one apple and another apple, what number of apples will you have?”

A teacher teaching Mathematics to a seven-year-old Rose asked her “If I offer you one apple and one apple and another apple, what number of apples will you have?” in no time the student gave an answer with full confidence, “Four!”.

“Maybe the little girl was not able to listen properly”, she thought. She repeated, “Rose, listen with heed. it's very easy. If I offer you one apple and one apple and another apple, what number of apples can you have? "

Rose calculated once more on her fingers. within her, she was also looking for the answer that may make the teacher happy. now hesitantly she replied: “Four…..”

The teacher remembered Rose loves Strawberries. She thought perhaps she doesn’t like apples and that is making her lose focus.

This time with excitement and shining eyes she asked, “If I offer you one strawberry and one strawberry and another strawberry, then what number will Rose have?"

Young Rose calculated on her fingers once more. With an irresolute smile, young Rose enquired, “Three"? The teacher now had a victorious smile. but one very last thing remained.

Once again she asked her, “Now if I offer you one apple and one apple and another apple, what number can you have?" Promptly Rose answered, “Four!" The teacher was dismayed. ”How Rose, How?” she demanded in a very little solid and irritated voice.

In a voice that was law and indecisive young Rose replied, “Because I have already got an apple in my bag”..

Moral of the Story:

when somebody gives us an answer that's completely different from what we tend to expect, not necessarily they're wrong. There is also an angle that we've not understood in any respect.
